3 in 4 New Yorkers facing a food emergency don’t get help.

You can change that.

Most of our hungry neighbors don’t use the thousands of resources available to them.

The Lemontree Food Helpline connects them to free food nearby in just a few minutes–but we need your help spreading the word. Join us for a virtual Neighborhood Network event to help your neighbors find vital resources!

What is the Neighborhood Network?

Join us & a small group of fellow volunteers as we reach out to local businesses and ask for their support. Think of it as virtual flyering!

  • Virtual events are less than 2 hours, and take place on a Zoom call.

  • We’ll give you all the tools & training you need!

  • You’ll be calling a curated list of neighborhood businesses, asking whether they can hang our flyer in their window. The more New Yorkers know about our helpline, the more hungry bellies we can fill!

How do I get started?

  • After you’ve registered with us as a volunteer & found a project, you should have received a text with a Zoom link.

  • Before the event, read through our Call Script & Tips. Don’t worry, we’ll go through a whole training before you make any calls!

  • After a 15-20 min orientation, we’ll set you up with our calling tool. You’ll be using your own phone, but it won’t be your personal phone number.

  • If you prefer to use a bigger screen, we’d recommend joining from a computer, but your phone is fine too!
